Texas Flood Update From Texas Slim's Cuts
Epicenter of the devastating flood
Good morning, It is with a heavy heart, but an uplifted spirit, that I report to you today from Kerrville, Texas, the epicenter of the devastating flood of 2025. I grew up and lived in Iowa most of my life. When people ask me where I'm from, I naturally respond, 'Iowa,' but I live in Texas. I came to Kerr County, Texas, with my family 11 years ago. I was always enamored with the persona of Texas and have not been disappointed. I firmly use the terms' y'all 'and' fixin' in my everyday conversations. And of course, yes ma'am and yes sir flow out as easily as please and thank you always did. Texas has rallied, the overwhelming response by my fellow Texans has been incredible, as Michigan resident Dan Beazley, the man carrying a 10 foot cross all over town stated last night at a prayer vigil held in downtown Kerrville overlooking the Guadalupe river; " In Michigan people don't work like this, they start at 9 am and may work until 4 or 5. Here I have seen people work all day and all night" and they still are! water is passed out, BBQ is provided, a hug and prayers are administered everywhere you look. This is truly an amazing testimony to "TEXAS" and everything we stand for as Texans. I have had the blessing to work with Texas Slim and the Beef Initiative for going on 3 years. We are providing an opportunity to support our local volunteers as well as support Texas ranchers who have been affected by the flood and all the damage it has caused to their property, animals, and their families. Most of the meals that are being served are hearty, healthy, hot, and a blessing to everyone. Protein in every portion. Lots of chicken and pork, and some beef. Help us serve them the best, clean, nutritious beef on the planet. Help us to lead with love, hope, and support my fellow Texans in this time of trial. We will be partnering with a local restaurant for a cookout to support our local volunteers and their families in the next few weeks. Right now, everyone is still in recovery mode, and rightly so. Please search your hearts and help us feed some cows, and feed those impacted by this once-in-a-lifetime event. God bless you all!
